People With Medicare

It's that time of year again -- and remember, the dates are earlier!

Medicare plans change every year, and so do your needs. The plan that was right for you in 2012 may not be right for you for 2013. Now is the time to think about your Medicare prescription drug coverage, during the Open Enrollment period which starts on October 15 and ends on December 7, 2012.

As with each year and during Open Enrollment, you should look at your plan to be sure it's still right for you. Now is the time to consider the plan you're in and make sure it will continue to meet your needs for 2013. Here's what you need to do:

  • Gather your information. Make a list of the drugs you take and the pharmacy, doctors, and other health-care providers you prefer to use.
  • Review the information your plan mails you this fall. You should get this information by September 30. Or you can call them to find out how your plan will change in 2013.
  • Check out the other plans in your area. See if another plan can cover your drugs at a lower cost or with fewer restrictions.
  • Then make a decision.

If you decide to stay with your current plan, you won't need to do anything. If you think you might want to switch to a different plan, this section will help you learn more.
