Do I have to stay in the plan they assigned me to? Can I change plans?

If you don't want the plan that Medicare chooses for you, you can switch to another plan at any time. You can also switch if you chose the plan yourself. Just call the new plan to find out how to join. When you join the new plan, your coverage under the old plan will end automatically.

How often can I change plans?

Anyone who qualifies for Extra Help with Medicare – including people with Medicare and Medicaid -- has a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).  You can change plans at any time. The change will start at the beginning of the next month.
