People With Medicare

I have drug coverage, but I don't know what kind it is.

You may have a card(s) that you show at the pharmacy when you buy your drugs. If you don't know what kind of coverage you have, there are a few ways you can find out.

Do you use the card just at the pharmacy?
If you show it only at the pharmacy, it may be:

  • A drug discount card from a company or group of companies. The card may have the company’s name on it.
  • State Pharmacy Assistance Program (SPAP) card.  You can check to see if your state has a State Pharmacy Assistance Program, also called an SPAP.  Click here for the list of State Pharmacy Assistance Programs and their names. If your state is listed, did the name on your card match the name for your state? If it did, you are in a State Pharmacy Assistance Program. If your state is not listed, you do not have a State Pharmacy Assistance Program.

If you use your card at the pharmacy and the doctor's office, then you might have

If you have two cards from the same company, one you use at the pharmacy and one at the doctor's office, then it's probably one of these plans.

If you still can't tell what kind of drug coverage you have, call the number on the card and ask them what kind of plan they are. A family member or friend may also be able to help. Or you can call
