General Enrollment Period

If you miss your Initial Enrollment Period, you get another chance to enroll.

For Medicare Part A and B:

You can sign up between January 1 and March 31 of each year. Your Medicare coverage would begin on July 1 of the same year.

Note: If you need to buy Part A, you must also enroll in Part B at this time.

For Medicare Part D, Prescription Drug Plan:

You can sign up from October 15 to December 7. This period is referred to as the annual Open Enrollment Period. You can also sign up for a Medicare Advantage health plan at this time. Your coverage will start January 1 of the following year.
